Cut off my service early

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Paid for service through 8/14/2021, but calling blocked 8/11 and texting 8/12.
  • - Cannot reach the vet; Yahoo mails to activate Visible; I avoid Verizon brands.

I have paid for the last month of service through today 8/14/2021. On 8/11/2021 I went to make a phone call only to find out that Yahoo Mobile shut my phone calling capabilities off early.

Then on 8/12 I lost the ability to send text messages. I am extremely angry because I paid for the service through today and can't use what I have rightfully paid for. My dog is sick and I couldn't get through to the vet. Yahoo Mobile keeps sending me emails trying to get me to activate Visible on my phone.

But after the way Yahoo Mobile treated me I will be dam*ed if I use another Verizon owned company. I'm glad that Yahoo Mobile no longer exists.

Pros:
  • No longer exist
Cons:
  • Shut my service off early

Yahoo Mobile is Horrible!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Do not use Yahoo Mobile; it's a nightmare.
  • - Calls fail when Yahoo's circuits are overloaded.
  • - Google Maps won't load due to Yahoo service.

Please do not use Yahoo Mobile. It has been a nightmare.

Ppl cannot reach me because when Yahoo's circuits are overloaded (which is often), my callers get an error message.

I am unable to load Google Maps, because Yahoo's service is too poor. Every month, my service is disconnected the day before my payment is due ...and it takes a lot of effort to get it turned back on.

Pros:
  • Reasonable price
Cons:
  • Cut phone off when an email reminder would help customer
  • Poor service
  • Agents who are not very knowledgeable

User's recommendation: Avoid Yahoo Mobile

They will not allow any usable option for someone who has a new number.. They will not let u update a new phone..

It's the stupidest most frustrating thing to not have access to your own email.. It's the most overbearing security I've ever experienced..

Couldn't even activate service, now getting run-around on return & cancellation.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - The mobile app wouldn't activate, site had bugs blocking chat, and I had to return and cancel; return label took a day, and I'm disputing charges.

Their mobile app was messed up from the start and wouldn't let me activate, and their website has bugs which made it hard to get into "chat" (the only way to contact them). When I could get in, chat was no help at all in getting the phone and service working, so I finally had to request a return and cancellation of my account.

It has taken them more than a day to email a return label to a yahoo.com email address and I'm sure getting my account cancelled is going to be a hassle just like everything else, so I'm disputing charges to my credit card. And hopefully nipping this all in the bud before it costs me a ton of money.

Long story short, avoid these inept weirdos at all costs.

At worst, they're fraudulent criminals. At best, it's like a mobile service run by 5 teenagers out of a basement.

As of yesterday the 10th Yahoo has been unable to get my phone number ported and service on my new phone. Deceptive practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - A Yahoo Mobile chat rep promised immediate cancellation.
  • - An email dated Jan 12 shows a 39.99 charge due Jan 19, no contract or cancellation fee.
Updated by user Feb 16, 2021

On the third try I finally found someone who actually resolved the matter. I refunded even for a charge to my credit card that should have happened.

It was an experience, however, I don't relish on every having to deal with again.

Very frustrating. But I am truly grateful for the help of the individual who was finally able to help me with the matter.

Original review Jan 14, 2021
I spoke with a yahoo mobile representative via chat from my mobile phone a month or so ago to cancel my cellphone service. The rep assured me she would cancel the service immediately.

Then I received an email notice on January 12, 2021 stating I have upcoming charges of 39.99 for January 19, 2021. This should not be the case. As the customer service rep assured me the service would be canceled immediately and there would be no further charges. There's no cancellation fee of any kind, as there was no contract required.
I've visited yahoo mobile's site to try and contact them through internet since I no longer have the access through my cell phone, but there's nothing on their site where one can contact.

There's only more advertising to become a customer. I feel this is very deceptive and yahoo can do better.
Pros:
  • Price reasonable
Cons:
  • Appearance of being deceptive when trying to cancel services

Preferred solution: follow through on promises. Site should have more valid information for cancellation of services

User's recommendation: Take precaution and make sure when canceling these type services that you receive verification.

This is an update to my original post. I was able to speak with "cs" on twitter.

I had to reactivate an old twitter account to do so. I don't have a facebook account. The only other option available outside of contacting yahoomobile directly via their website. Which the link on the page didn't work.

However, "cs" and I did get to chat on twitter. And he say he did see where I'd canceled the service last month in December, but for whatever reason the account was never deactivated by the person I spoke with through chat through yahoomobile phone chat at the time. "cs" apologized for the inconvenience and promised the service would be canceled and I would not be billed. "cs" also said I someone from yahoombile would contact me via email.

As I explained to him twitter and facebook aren't normal sources of contact for me. I was told I should be contacted through email within 24 hrs.

I'll provide updates when I hear more. Thank you for allowing me to express my concerns on your site.

Brenda W Qta

I used the (800) 305-****# your service provided and immediately took your advice to call the number and attempt to clear up the situation. However, the representative on the other end told me that number is for email service only, and they don't have any information on hand to contact yahoo mobile directly. So it appears I'm getting the run around on the matter, therefore I've written to BBB to see if they can help with the situation.

Requesting a REFUND

AI Highlights
  • - I joined Yahoo Mobile to save $40/mo.
  • - Yahoo debited my account and told me to close the account first for a refund.
  • - I prefer live phone support.

I joined Yahoo mobile after being a Verizon customer for over 25 years, to save $40 a month. I learned the day after I joined and received a yahoo sim card, that Verizon also has pre pay.

5 GB /$40.

I chose to stay w/ Verizon. I prefer to be able to speak to a live person when I need customer service or technical help. Yahoo had already debited my account. I've tried to look for a place to request a refund.

Before I closed my account, a yahoo live chat agent told me to close my account first then request a refund. Now I can't access a live chat.

Wow, what a terrible experience w/ this company! style="

Bad phone service and no customer support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Yahoo Mobile service is terrible; the app fails.
  • - Porting was approved but billed another month.
  • - Support is slow; autopay can't be canceled.

Terrible phone service yahoo mobile app doesn't work phone barely worked and when I ported out they approved the port then billed me for another month. I emailed multiple times with no response.

They service was then cut totally off and they do not pickup when you try to use online chat. I tried to call the phone number which they don't even provide I had to get there number from my credit card company. I called the number and was given a text number by an automated system when I texted to it it sent back automated response of we no longer use text for service and gave me the same failed web page to contact and I again sat waiting for a chat pickup for more than an hour. Please save yourself some frustration and stay away from YAHOO MOBILE.

And by the way they never even ported the number the new service said it was approved but they NEVER got it I had to pay an activation fee to get a new SIM card and number.

I have disputed with my credit card company because you can't even cancel the auto pay service on there website it will only allow you to change payment method. You can't even cancel the service from there web page.

User's recommendation: stay away

YAHOO HAD MY ACCOUNT LOCKED

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Yahoo canceled 2 of my 3 accounts under a new policy.
  • - PISSEDCONSUMER helped me and contacted me in 2 days, thanks Dean.

I have a yahoo account but when yahoo had the big problems in 2016

I had 3 accounts. Yahoo decided to cancel 2 because I can only have one now, the new policy for yahoo.

Yahoo

Made the choice to give me the address that had the most mail in it without informing me. I didn't use the account LOT but when I wanted to change address to the one associated with apple ID. I COULD NOT GET IN CONTACT THEM. The Chat service is frustrating, I just told them to take their email services and stick it.

IT was pure

Luck that I found pissedconsumer. This company ( PISSEDCONSUMER) SENT A LETTER FOR ME AND THEY MADE CONTACT WITH ME 2 DAYS LATER.

Believe me that is a Miracle considering it's Yahoo. I really like PISSEDCONSUMER THEY GOT STRAIGHT TO THE POINT.

THANK YOU DEAN

Poor service in Michigan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I live in central Michigan, when I had service with Nextel, service was great, then Sprint come along and service was okay, until Nextel disappeared altogether, then service started to get worse and worse until it's so bad I finally switched to Yahoo Mobile. Yahoo Mobile made he mistake of promising that it's service was working on the back bone of Verizon, big mistake, this made it sound like service was EVERYWHERE.

IT'S NOT. My service is only marginally better, in Michigan. When I started to go south this winter, low and behold leaving Michigan my service improved so-much-so that I thought I had a new company. Yahoo Mobile works so much better out of Michigan, why is that?

Clearly there are way more cell towers that Yahoo Mobile are using to provide service. Maybe I need to find a new cell phone company when I get back to Michigan.

Preferred solution: More cell phone towers in Central Michigan

User's recommendation: DON'T GO WITH YAHOO MOBILE if you live in Michigan.
